DESIGN YOUR OWN ITINERARY

A Galapagos trip is focused on the expedition cruise of course.  For our natural history workshops, we offer trips with the option of 11 or 15 days on board.  We also offer the option of adding extra days pre- and post-cruise.  These are respectively designed to i) reduce the risk of missing your embarkation date, and to ii) give you a chance to get your land legs back after several days at sea.

CHOOSE ONE OF THE FOLLOWING OPTIONS

CRUISE ONLY:  This is "just the cruise".

  • Choice of the 11 or 15 day cruise on the Monserrat - meals, excursions, wetsuits / snorkel equipment, kayaks, paddle boards, tow hand-picked naturalist guides for an ideal 8:1 ratio of guests to guide;
  • Emergency medical evacuation insurance - US$200,000 coverage;
  • Carbon offsets - offsetting the impacts of trip emissions - Click here for more details.

BREEZE:  Includes two nights "pre-cruise" in Quito, at a boutique hotel, plus a Quito City Day Tour.  Arriving 2 days before your embarkation date will provide an important cushion against potential travel disruptions on you way to Quito (missed connections, cancelled flights).  Same as "cruise only", but add on:

  • 2 nights in Quito, including 2 nights in a very comfortable and unique Mama Cuchara Arts Hotel;
  • Quito World Heritage city day tour with cable car to upper slopes of Pichincha volcano (weather permitting);
  • Transit control card and park entrance fee;
  • Airport transfers with dedicated airport check-in assistance (domestic flights);
  • Domestic flights, cruise and more included;
  • Emergency medical evacuation insurance (US$200,000);
  • Carbon offsets - offsetting the impacts of trip emissions - Click here for more details.

LEISURE:  Enjoy some down time after an active trip - wander about town, go to the local beach, do a bit of shopping, taste the local craft beer, coffee shops and more.  Same as breeze, but add on:

  • 2 extra nights in Galapagos post-cruise in the lovely Ikala boutique hotel with pool;
  • Visit an organic coffee farm in the highlands;
  • Lunch at a highlands restaurant;
  • Services of a naturalist guide to help plan any excursions or accompany you;
  • A guided visit to the Charles Darwin Research Station;
  • A farewell dinner on your last night in Galapagos;
  • Accompanied transfer to the hotel for your flight back to the continent, includes check-in assistance.

SHIP ITINERARIES:  11 or 15 DAYS

We chose to work with the Monserrat in part because it's one of the only ships that includes Genovesa, Española and Fernandina Islands on an 11 day itinerary.  To reach these three very different, but much appreciated places on just about all other ships, a full 15 day itinerary would be required.

Our departures during the year follow EITHER an 11 day OR a 15 itinerary.  We provide the itinerary routes for both options below:

news

Heather,

We returned home Friday from our trip that was arranged through your company.

Everything was wonderful, an experience of a lifetime. From the time we stepped off the plane in Quito, everything was perfect. Our guide in Quito was excellent, and we enjoyed our hotel and the city tour. From the minute  we arrived in Galápagos and was met by our guide Jimmie, things got even better. We loved the Samba. The crew was amazing, especially Captain Jose. Enough cannot be said about Jimmie, he was just exceptional. Our guide in Puerto Ayora, Sandi was excellent as well, very nice and extremely knowledgeable.

Our travel mates were all very nice people that were similar in age and interests. Friendships were made.

I especially want to thank you for accommodating our last minute request for lodging closer to the airport, on our return to Quito. Staying next to the airport made our early morning departure much easier.
